Our clients turned a grassy parking area in their yard into a stunning urban garage that functioned as more than a place to park their car. The intent of this project was to create a space that met many of their needs — parking their cars, storing their bikes, storage space for household items, a workshop for projects, but ultimately, a garage that didn’t look like any other garage. We designed the building to flow seamlessly with their existing patio and yard. This garage features three clerestory windows, a sliding glass door that opens to the yard side, and a garage door with top-opaque glass. It’s wrapped in HardiePlank siding and includes a small architectural rood overhang that extends from the garage to create shelter above the sliding doors. The interior is finished with cement floors, overhead lighting, electrical outlets, a ceiling fan, and gators suspended from the ceiling to lift additional items into the ceiling for even more storage. We’d be happy to build this stunning accessory unit for any client who desires more than just a garage, but a delightful and functional dwelling to compliment their home and outdoor space.
